Inspirational Children
The Hobblers want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who nominated in our search for a young hero.
When we started this search, we were looking for a special child to officially open Hobbledown and were overwhelmed with the fantastic response we received. We found it too hard to whittle down all the wonderful nominees who are obviously so admired in their communities. So in the end, we decided to have four winners and here they are:
- Jack Devonport, 6, has recently finished 3 years of gruelling chemotherapy for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. His mum says he is a brave little boy who has never once complained.
- In his short life Jack Novis, 16 months old, has already had open heart surgery and a kidney removed. His proud mum says that despite his busy and sad year, he smiled through it all and has a very cheeky, boisterous manner about him.
- Nevaeh Green, 4, has spent over half her life fighting childhood cancer, causing her to be bedridden at times and frequently an inpatient at her local hospital. Her mum’s friend who nominated her said: “She’s missed out on so much time being a child. She knew what was wrong with her but never let it stop her amazing personality from shining through”.
- In 2009, Adam Bird, 8, was diagnosed with High-Risk Neuroblastoma which is one of the most aggressive and difficult to treat of all paediatric cancers. Adam received many nominations and his plight is well-known in the area.
Thank you again to everyone who took the time to write in and nominate. We hope to help bring a little smile to these brave children’s faces.
